Norwegian by heritage and a San Franciscan by birth,
brown-haired, brown-eyed Greg Palmer (born Palmer Lee) broke into show biz as a
radio announcer. After an early ‘50’s stint as a contract player at Universal,
he turned to freelancing, closing out the decade by starring and co-starring in
a number of detective, Western and sci-fi adventures. In the ‘60’s, Palmer
drifted into supporting roles and much TV work, and reinforced his growing rep
with Western fans by becoming a regular member of John Wayne’s latter-day stock
company.
Gregg Palmer has been an actor in the film industry for
over fifty years, beginning his career as a contract player to Universal Studios
from 1951 to 1954. His career included appearances in over fifty motion
pictures. In the field on television, Gregg is credited with over four-hundred
episodes on some ninety different television shows.
He is best remembers for his portrayals in such classic
films as Magnificent Obsession to his
roles in six motions pictures with the late John Wayne which included
Big Jake and
The Shootist.” He has guest-starred
on many Western television series, including
Wagon Train, Wyatt Earp,
Death Valley Days, Have Gun Will Travel, Gunsmoke, and
The High Chaparral
to name just a few.
